On 21 October, during the Annual Conference of Financial Street Forum 2026, the Export-Import Bank of China held the parallel forum “Upholding Openness and Win-Win Cooperation To Foster New Dynamism For High Quality Belt and Road Cooperation” simultaneously in Beijing, China and Nairobi, Kenya. This marks the first time that the Financial Street Forum Annual Conference has set up a satellite-forum in Africa. Ambassador Guo Haiyan attended the forum and delivered a speech. John Mbadi Ng’ongo, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning of Kenya, Davis Chirchir, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport of Kenya, and representatives of Chinese enterprises were present at the Nairobi sub-forum.

In her speech, Ambassador Guo noted that China-Kenya relations serve as a vivid epitome of China-Africa friendship and cooperation in the new era. China stands ready to further deepen cooperation with African countries in infrastructure development, fully leverage the benefits of the zero-tariff policy for Africa, explore more application scenarios for CIPS, and advance China-Africa financial cooperation to deeper and more substantive levels.

In their remarks, Mbadi and Chirchir stated that the Belt and Road Initiative has become an important platform for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, promoting trade and investment, and expanding diversified financing channels. They stand ready to work with all parties to further deepen China-Africa cooperation and jointly explore new opportunities for development.
