Chinese Embassy in Kenya Hosts Reunion of Kenyan Alumni and Send-off Reception for Students Bound for China in 2026

On 31 July, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya hosted a reunion for Kenyan alumni who studied in China, combined with a send-off event for students heading to China in 2026. Ambassador Guo Haiyan, officials from the Kenyan Ministry of Public Service and the Kenyan-China Alumni Association, along with around 150 guests attended the event, including alumni, students and family representatives.

Ambassador Guo gave an overview of the scholarship programmes for Kenyan students, as well as China-Kenya relations and China’s development. She spoke highly of the important roles of Kenyan alumni, noting that China-Kenya relationship is heading towards a new phase in building a community with a shared future for humanity in the new era. The Ambassador welcomes more Kenyan students in further academic achievement in China, and encourages Kenyan alumni to serve as bridges and bonds of bilateral relations.

The Kenyan side expressed their appreciation to China for its continued effort in providing scholarships. Recognizing the fruitful outcome of bilateral relations, the Kenyan officials are looking forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China across all fields. Alumni and students present expressed their commitment to become envoys in China-Kenya friendship.

Ambassador Guo joined the guests in a cultural performance at the Embassy. The Kenyan guests visited the Talanta Stadium, a landmark project built by Chinese enterprise.
