On July 1, 2026, The 105th Anniversary of the Communist Party of China and Its Contributions to Human Progress, the opinion piece of H.E. Guo Haiyan，Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, was published on the Star and the People Daily. Below is the full text of the opinion piece: 

  Today marks the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Over the past century, the Party has grown from  just over 50 founding members into the biggest governing party in the world with more than 100 million members. Over the past century, the Party has led the Chinese people in realizing the historic transformation from standing up and becoming prosperous to growing strong, scoring remarkable achievements lauded by the world, and making major contributions to the country and the world.

  The Party led the Chinese nation to great rejuvenation. After the Opium War in 1840, China was reduced to a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society mired in crises at home and aggression from abroad. The party was born in 1921 in response to the great struggle against imperialism and feudalism. After 28 years’ arduous struggle, the Party united and led the Chinese people in defeating the Japanese imperialists, toppling the reactionary rule of the Kuomintang, and achieving the victory of the New Democratic Revolution. After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the Party made tremendous efforts to explore the development path suited to China’s national conditions and made the historic decision to shift the focus of the work of the Party and the state to economic development, reform and opening up. The Party has led China in accomplishing in just a few decades the industrialization which took western countries centuries and leapfrogging to become the second largest economy in the world. Since the 18th National Congress of CPC in 2012, the Party has led the Chinese people to great victories in the fight against poverty and building a moderately prosperous country in all respects amid the complex and volatile world. The 20th National Congress of CPC in 2022 has laid out strategic plans to basically realize socialist modernization in 2035 and build China into a great modern socialist country from 2035 through 2049. Under the leadership of the Party, today’s China enjoys vigorous progress in all its endeavors and gets closer and closer to the goal of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

  The Party has fundamentally transformed the future of the Chinese people. As President Xi Jinping points out, “our Party comes from the people and has its roots in the people. It is the Party’s fundamental mission to strive for people’s well being and serve the people.” The founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 put an end to the state of total disunity that existed in old China, and to all the unequal treaties imposed on China by foreign powers and all the privileges that imperialist powers enjoyed in China, achieving the transformation from feudal autocracy to people's democracy. Socialism with Chinese characteristics has greatly liberated and developed productivity, enhanced the vitality of social development, and improved people’s well being. The Party has remained committed to the philosophy of people-centered development, and worked continuously to ensure people's access to childcare, education, employment, medical services, elderly care, housing, and social assistance, thus bringing about an all-around improvement in people's lives.Since reform and opening up in 1978, more than 770 million of China's rural population living below the current poverty line have been raised from poverty according to the international poverty standard. China’s per capita GDP exceeded 13,900 USD in 2025, and the living standard of urban and rural residents has reached the United Nations benchmark for affluence. Under the whole-process people's democracy, the people enjoy the rights prescribed by the constitution and the laws to democratic election, consultations, decision-making, management and oversight, and become the master of the country, the society and their own future.

  The Party has been dedicated to advancing the cause of human progress. A world of harmony and shared future has been the cherished dream of the Chinese people for thousands of years. The Party and the Chinese people hope that not only they but also people of all countries can lead a good life. The Chinese people,who overcame severe hardship in the past, cherish the hard-won peace and will never bully, oppress or enslave people of other countries. After long-term trials, the Party has united and led the Chinese people in taking their own path, charting the new course of Chinese modernization and creating a new model for human advancement. While pursuing happiness for the Chinese people,the Party is highly concerned with world peace and development, and remains dedicated to promoting the world order to evolve in a more fair and equitable direction. Since the 18th National Congress of CPC, President Xi Jinping, confronting a world of accelerating changes unseen in a century, has put forward the Global Development Initiative(GDI), the Global Security Initiative(GSI), the Global Governance Initiative(GGI) and the Global Civilization Initiative(GCI), and championed the building of the community with a shared future for humanity by all countries, with a view to building an open, inclusive, clean, and beautiful world that enjoys enduring peace, universal security, and common prosperity. “China can only do well when the world is doing well. When China does well, the world will get even better.” This rational understanding, reached by the Party on the basis of long-term development practices, underscores the party’s firm confidence in promoting the building of the community of a shared future for humanity.

  Africa is one of the cradles of the human civilization, the key emerging force on the international stage and the strategic anchor of China’s foreign policy. As an important African country, the portal to Eastern Africa, and China’s important partner in Belt and Road cooperation, Kenya holds a special and important position in China’s diplomacy. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1963, the two countries have forged a profound friendship. In recent years in particular, exchanges and cooperation across the board, including between political parties, have been deepening, and the bilateral relations have been upgrading. In this new landscape, the Party, the Chinese government, and the Chinese people stand ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Kenya, jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for the new era, benefit the two peoples, and make positive contributions to world peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
