Chinese Embassy in Kenya and Kenyan Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs co-hosted a Symposium on “Zero Tariffs, Infinite Opportunities”
On April 27th,Chinese Embassy in Kenya and Kenyan Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs co-hosted a Symposium on “Zero Tariffs, Infinite Opportunities”. The Symposium was graced by Amb. GUO Haiyan, Amb. Josphat Maikara, Director General for Political and Diplomatic Affairs of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, and other attendees, including Kenyan Government officials and representatives from industry associations for major export products to China, such as coffee, tea, flower and avocado, as well as representatives of Chinese enterprises.

Amb. GUO Haiyan stated that China remains committed to expanding high-level opening-up and supporting Africa’s development. China’s zero-tariff measure for Africa is due to take effect on May 1st, offering a vast market for Kenya and the other African countries. China stands ready to work with Kenya to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, utilize the zero-tariff policy as a driver to unlock new momentum for China-Africa cooperation, and promote high-quality and sustainable development of bilateral cooperation.

The Kenyan representatives expressed keen anticipation regarding the implementation of China’s zero-tariff measure, stating that they would seize the precious opportunity, continuously improve product quality and enhance the business environment, and use the zero-tariff policy to bring tangible benefits to the Kenyan people.
