On July 21, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Kenya hosted a reception to warmly celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Present at the reception, which was attended by over 150 people, were Ambassador of China to Kenya H.E GUO Haiyan , Defense Attaché Senior Colonel ZHAO Peng, Vice Chief of  Kenya Defense Forces, Lieutenant General John Mugaravai Omenda, Inspector General of National Police Service Douglas Kanja Kirocho and other military and government officials, as well as Defense Attachés from various countries accredited to Kenya and representatives from all walks of life from Kenya.  

  In their speeches, H.E GUO Haiyan and Senior Colonel ZHAO Peng noted that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Born, grown and strengthened under the leadership of the CPC, the people’s armed forces have always shared the same breath, destiny and heart with the Chinese people, making irreplaceable historical contributions to striving for national independence and liberation, safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests, and advancing Chinese-style modernization. The Chinese military is not only a staunch defender of China’s peaceful development, but also an important force for maintaining world peace. It will continue to faithfully fulfill the international responsibilities of a major country’s military, actively carry out international military exchanges and cooperation, and provide more public security goods for the international community. Lieutenant General Omenda highly commended the great achievements in China’s national defense building and expressed his willingness to further deepen bilateral broader defense cooperation and jointly work to safeguard world peace.

  The reception features displays of books, videos materials and models of  military equipment to showcase China`s development achievements, alongside live performance by the Army Band of Kenya Defense Forces.All attending guests voiced their admiration for China's contributions to safeguarding world peace.
