Ambassador Guo Haiyan Attends the 3rd Nairobi Chinese New Year Gala

On February 8, Ambassador Guo Haiyan of China to Kenya attended and delivered a speech at the 3rd Nairobi Chinese New Year Gala, co-organized by Chinese communities in Kenya under the theme "Embracing the Chinese New Year". The event attracted thousands of participants, including Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Tourism, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, and the Director-General of the United Nations Office in Nairobi, overseas Chinese in Kenya, and international friends.

Ambassador Guo extended festive greetings to the overseas Chinese community and friends from various sectors. She noted that the Spring Festival, while originated from China, has now become a global cultural feast. Ambassador Guo also introduced China’s achievements under the 14th Five-Year Plan and the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan. She expressed China’s willingness to take the 2026 "China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges" as an opportunity to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen mutual learning between civilizations, and jointly advance the modernization process of China and Africa.

Kenyan officials and guests experienced Spring Festival customs and expressed their great appreciation for the festival culture and the splendid performances. They applauded the new year gala for bringing joy to Kenyans and extended their sincere wishes for a happy Spring Festival to Chinese friends.
