Ambassador Guo Haiyan Pays New Year Courtesy Call on H.E. Ms. Anacláudia Rossbach
On January 19, H.E. Ms. Guo Haiyan, Ambassador of China to Kenya and Permanent Representative of China to UN-Habitat, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Anacláudia Rossbach, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The two sides held in-depth exchanges on deepening cooperation in the human settlements field in 2026 and advancing global sustainable urban development.

Amb. Guo stated that China firmly upholds the UN-centered international system, actively practices true multilateralism, and continuously injects stability and certainty into the international order. In 2026, the inaugural year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, China will, as always, support the work of UN-Habitat, advance the in-depth and practical development of bilateral cooperation, and under the guidance of the Global Development Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, jointly build an urban future where humans and nature coexist in harmony.
Ms. Rossbach expressed her appreciation for China’s long-term support to UN-Habitat. She conveyed her willingness to further strengthen cooperation with China in key areas, including the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, the World Cities Day series of activities, and the World Urban Forum. She also noted the importance of further promoting and applying landmark cooperation outcomes such as the Global Award For Sustainable Development in Cities(Shanghai Award), with a view to jointly advancing more inclusive, resilient and sustainable human settlements.
