On December 4, the China-Kenya Friendship Games was held at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi. Ambassador Guo Haiyan, Minister Counsellor Zhou Zhencheng, Mr. Elijah Mwangji, Principal Secretary for Sports, and Mr. Yu Xiaodong, Chairman of the Kenya China Economic and Trade Association(KCETA) attended the opening ceremony.

  Ambassador Guo stated that the China-Kenya Friendship Games is an important event of the China-Kenya Culture and Tourism Season as well as the vivid example of active culture exchanges between the two countries, that the Chinese enterprises in Kenya are the backbone of the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and have made important contribution to local economic development and the well being of the people and that she hopes the Chinese enterprises continue to play a positive role in building the China-Kenya community with a shared future for the new era.  

  The Kenyan attendees congratulated on the commencement of the games, spoke positively of the contribution of the Chinese companies in Kenya and expressed willingness to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in areas like economy, sports and culture.

  The games was organized by the KCETA and drew 700 participations of the Chinese and Kenyan employees of the Chinese companies in Kenya who formed 19 teams to compete in track and fields events and fun games.
