Chinese Embassy in Kenya Hosts Seminar on Global Development Initiative

  On November 13, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya hosted a seminar on Global Development Initiative (GDI), with the theme of Joining Hands to Implement GDI, Building a Balanced and Universally Beneficial Partnerships for Development. Chinese Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Guo Haiyan, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi Mrs.Zainab Bangura, officials from five Kenyan State Departments including State Department for Foreign Affairs, and heads of nearly 20 UN agencies, ambassadors to Kenya, experts and scholars, nearly 90 participants in total.

  Amb. Guo introduced the practical achievements, global contributions, and latest developments of GDI. She stated that China is willing to work with all parties to further implement GDI as well as three other Global Initiatives, accelerate the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to reinvigorate global development, inject strong momentum into the building of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

  The seminar saw lively discussion. Attendees spoke highly of the fruitful outcomes of cooperation under the GDI. They expressed willingness to deepen global development cooperation with China, promote open and inclusive development, and safeguard the common interests of the international community, particularly the Global South.
