Amb. Guo Haiyan Attends the Opening Ceremony of the 10th Kenya International Theatre Festival
On November 4, the 10th Kenya International Theatre Festival unveiled at the Kenya National Theatre in Nairobi. Chinese Ambassador H.E. Guo Haiyan, CS for Gender, Culture and Children Services, Hon. Hanna Cheptumo, and other distinguished guests attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Amb. Guo noted that Civilizations have become richer and more colorful with exchanges and mutual learning. It was emphasized that the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2023 provides valuable guidance for advancing dialogue among civilizations. Under the framework of the China–Kenya Culture and Tourism Season, China is willing to actively participate in Kenya’s local and international cultural, artistic, and tourism festivals—including the KITFest—to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges, enhance mutual learning among civilizations, and contribute positively to building a China–Kenya and global community with a shared future in the new era.

Founded in 2015, the Kenya International Theatre Festival has become one of the most influential theatre events in East Africa. This year’s edition has attracted performing troupes from 22 countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa, including China, the United Kingdom, Germany, South Africa, and Egypt, etc.
