Ambassador GUO Haiyan Attended the Symposium Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Restoration of Taiwan

On October 9, China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in Kenya and China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in East Africa co-hosted a symposium to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War as well as the 80th anniversary of the restoration of Taiwan. Ambassador GUO Haiyan attended and addressed the event together with more than 30 people, including heads of major Chinese community organizations and representatives of senior Chinese residents in Kenya.

Ambassador GUO said that the restoration of Taiwan to China is an important achievement of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which was forged through the dauntless struggles and sacrifices of all Chinese people, including compatriots in Taiwan. It is also an important part of the post-war international order. To commemorate the restoration of Taiwan is to remember lessons of history, honor fallen heroes, carry forward great spirit of resisting aggression, seek peaceful development together, and jointly strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Ambassador GUO praised the contribution made by overseas Chinese community in promoting the people-to-people friendship between China and Kenya, and encouraged everyone to continue to integrate their personal career progress into the overall development of the country, so as to inject new vitality into the steady and sustained growth of China-Kenya relations and the advancement of Chinese modernization.

Representatives of the overseas Chinese community, including Gao Wei, President of China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in Kenya, delivered speeches at the symposium, expressing their willingness to continue strengthening the development of Chinese community organizations, uniting Chinese compatriots in Kenya, and constantly building up the powerful force of overseas Chinese to oppose “Taiwan independence” and promote national reunification.
