Chinese Embassy in Kenya Holds Reception Celebrating 76th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China

On September 29, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya hosted a reception to solemnly celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Chinese Ambassador Guo Haiyan and over 500 guests attended, including Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, UN Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the UN Office at Nairobi Zainab Hawa Bangura, senior Kenyan officials, representatives from friendly organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, resident representatives of international organizations in Kenya, representatives of Chinese institutions, and the Chinese community.

In her remarks, Ambassador Guo Haiyan reviewed the great achievements of the People’s Republic of China over the past 76 years, called for upholding multilateralism, and highlighted the Global Governance Initiative. She stressed that China is ready to work with Kenya, guided by the important consensus of the two Heads of State, to jointly forge a China-Kenya community with a shared future in the new era.

Speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Kenya, Dr. Mudavadi congratulated China on its National Day and praised remarkable accomplishments of China. He appreciated positive contribution that China made to the development of African countries including Kenya, and expressed willingness to work with China to firmly safeguard multilateralism and a fair and equitable international order in this complex and changing international situation.
