On 6th March, H.E. Guo Haiyan, Ambassador of China to Kenya met with UNICEF Representative in Kenya Ms. Shaheen Nilofer. The meeting was attended by Jelena Jovanovic, Senior Advisor for UNICEF’s Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office, and Mr. Zhou Zhencheng, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy.

Nilofer expressed appreciation for the Chinese government’s support to UNICEF’s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health programs in Eight African Countries from 2020 to 2022. She highlighted her hope for further collaboration with the Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy in Kenya in the future.

Ambassador Guo thanked UNICEF for its support of China’s work in Africa and emphasized China’s commitment to continuing discussions with UNICEF under the South-South cooperation framework to advance collaborative initiatives in Africa.
