On 6 January 2025, H.E. Ms. GUO Haiyan arrived in Nairobi to assume the post as the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Kenya, as well as the permanent representative to UNEP and UN-Habitat. Deputy Director General of the State Department for Foreign Affairs Amb. Jane Makori, major officials of the Chinese Embassy, and representatives of Chinese community in Kenya welcomed her at the airport.
On behalf of the Kenyan government, Amb. Makori warmly welcomed Ambassador Guo to Kenya, saying that Kenyan government attaches great importance to its relations with China, and would fully render support and facilitation to her exercise of duties, jointly promote the continuous development of bilateral relations and cooperation.
Amb. Guo said she was greatly honored to serve as China’s Ambassador to Kenya. China and Kenya have a time-honored friendship, maintained rapid development of bilateral ties, achieved fruitful outcomes in practical cooperation in various areas. President Xi Jinping and Ruto have met for two consecutive years, charting the course for developing bilateral relations. As the new ambassador to Kenya, she will build on the work of her predecessors, work closely with the Kenyan government and people from all walks of life, deepen practical cooperation, and promote people-to-people friendship, jointly build an even closer China-Kenya community with a shared future.
