On 17th December, the Kenya-China Economic and Trade Association (KCETA) hosted a launch event in Nairobi for the 2022-2023 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report on Chinese Enterprises in Kenya, under the theme Advancing Modernization Together, Building a Shared Future.The event was attended by Minister Counsellor Zhou Zhencheng from the Chinese Embassy, Principal Secretary of Ministry of Roads and Transport Mohamed Daghar, and other distinguished guests.
Minister Counsellor Zhou highlighted the fruitful outcomes of China-Kenya cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which has significantly contributed to Kenya’s economic and social development. He praised Chinese enterprises in Kenya for theirCSR efforts, such as funding educational programmes and disaster relief initiatives, embodying the principles of sincerity, real results, affinity, and good faith. Zhou expressed optimism for the future, noting that the shared vision of President Xi Jinping and President William Ruto would continue to guide efforts toward a brighter future for bilateral collaboration.
PS Daghar commended the contributions of Chinese enterprises to Kenya’s progress, affirming Kenya’s commitment to the One-China principle and pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation. He emphasized the importance of aligning the BRI with Kenya’s Vision 2030 development agenda to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
