On September 13, Charge d'Affaires Zhang Zhizhong was invited to attend and address a seminar on the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit held by the Africa Center for the Study of China of the University of Nairobi. Prof. Jack Odhiambo, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of UoN, Mr. Martin Owuor, Deputy Director of Asia and Pacific Directorate of MFA, Prof. Peter Kagwanja, Prof. Patrick Maluki and other well-known local scholars, and nearly 50 teachers and students of UoN, were present.
Zhang briefed the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and the important consensus reached at the meeting between the heads of state of China and Kenya, expressed that China hopes to work with Kenyan scholars and think tanks to implement the “China-Africa Dar es Salaam Consensus”, and contribute to the all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
During the event, experts and scholars highly commended President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech and the outcomes of the Summit, said that FOCAC is an important platform for China and Africa to achieve mutual benefits, win-win results and common development, bringing opportunities and hope to African countries including Kenya, and would be ready to continue to contribute wisdom and strength to promote the development of Africa-China and Kenya-China relations.
