(Nairobi, 31st July 2022 )

Your Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta,

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It is my great honor and pleasure to join you in the commissioning Ceremony for the Nairobi Expressway and the Nairobi Eastern Bypass. I thank honorable Cabinet Secretary Macharia for the kind invitation.

Infrastructure development matters, everywhere. In China we often say, "to build fortune, roads should be built first." As the first PPP project in Kenya financed and built by CCCC/CRBC, the Nairobi Expressway has not only contributed to alleviating traffic congestion in Nairobi, but also given this beautiful green city under the sun a big boost as the regional hub.

On the occasion of the official commissioning of the Nairobi Expressway, a new landmark to the friendship between our two countries and peoples, I wish to warmly congratulate President Kenyatta, the government and people of Kenya, on making steady, sustainable and significant progress in every undertaking for national development. My congratulations also go to CCCC/CRBC for proving themselves once again to be reliable partners of Kenya.

China and Kenya share a profound tradition of friendship. In recent years, under the strategic guidance and personal attention of President Xi Jinping and President Uhuru Kenyatta, the brotherly relationship between China and Kenya has reached new heights unmatched in history, bringing tangible benefits to our two countries and peoples. Our fruitful and wide-ranging practical cooperation stands out in China-Africa cooperation. China always appreciates Kenya’s invaluable support wherever China’s interest is concerned.

    Ladies and Gentleman,

The upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be a key event at a critical moment as China embarks on a new journey to build itself into a modern socialist country. It will map out goals, tasks and policies for the next five years and the longer term for the nation and the CPC. China will only become more and more open.

Moving forward, we are convinced that China and Kenya can forge an even stronger comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership in a spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation.

Guided by the principle of upholding greater good while pursuing shared interests and the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, China remains committed to working with Kenya to implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Conferences, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, and advance high quality Belt and Road cooperation for shared prosperity.

We will continue to do whatever we could to support Kenya in achieving independent, sustainable development and realizing the Kenya Vision 2030 and the Kenyan Dream at an early date.

    Thank you for your attention.
