1. Briefing on COVID-19 cases in China

According to China’s National Health Commission and the State Council inter-agency task force, the latest development of COVID-19 in China’s mainland is as follows:

(1) Feb 27 saw 9 newly confirmed cases excluding Hubei Province.

(2) In Hubei Province, 318 newly confirmed cases were reported, and 3,203 more patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

(3) In all provinces excluding Hubei and all cities excluding Wuhan, the numbers of newly confirmed cases both dropped to single digit for the first time.

(4) As of 24:00 on Feb 27 (Beijing Time), 78,824 confirmed cases have been reported, including 36,117 cured cases and 2,788 fatalities.

2. Regarding China Southern Airlines’ flights

On Feb. 28, due to the decreasing volume of passenger flow, China Southern Airlines has made necessary adjustments by suspending flights connecting Guangzhou, Changsha and Nairobi until further notice.

The Embassy has contacted the Chinese nationals arriving by the flight on Feb 26 and required them to strictly follow the quarantine instructions. The Embassy has emphasized that random and unexpected visits will be made by the Ministry of Health and the Embassy and all of them should stay wherever they are for at least 14 days.
